The tree is Shishkin's, 1883. "Part Tree" is one in a new series of paintings I am working on. Each painting in this series is 12 by 11 inches. I can show these to you next time you are here. There are six paintings so far, and a seventh on the easel. (George Deem, letter to Christiane Hertel, January 27, 1999)
